And now Victor Orban with Zelensky The End of the Ukraine War: A Global Victory Saving Lives and Alleviating Suffering The most immediate and profound benefit of ending the Ukraine war would be the preservation of innocent lives. Thousands of civilians and soldiers have already perished in this conflict. A cessation of hostilities would spare countless more from death, injury, and displacement. Over six million people have fled Ukraine as refugees since the war began. Peace would allow these individuals to return home and rebuild their lives.
Peace would be welcome. But the cynic in me is puzzled by the timing. Because after destroying the US economy, destroying tens of millions of lives here at home, along with numerous other transgressions, the current administration is looking at a melt down of epic proportions.
And since they are going to steal another election, and it won’t be quite time to send us to the camps, they are going to need some good news, and an economic stimulus plan.
What would be better than a miraculous peace agreement for the good news. And a massive rebuilding plan that will provide hundreds of billions of dollars to US based firms.
My view: they started this war with the full intention of keeping it going until they needed to end it. It is as much about the Ukraine border as Covid was about a lab leak.
I’ll take the peace. The combatants have suffered enough. But they’ve lied about this, just as they’ve lied about everything else. For 200 years. At least.
