Remember a few days ago the U.S. Department of Defense Austin and Russia’s minister of defense had a phone conversation?
And now Victor Orban with Zelensky
The End of the Ukraine War: A Global Victory
Saving Lives and Alleviating Suffering
The most immediate and profound benefit of ending the Ukraine war would be the preservation of innocent lives. Thousands of civilians and soldiers have already perished in this conflict. A cessation of hostilities would spare countless more from death, injury, and displacement. Over six million people have fled Ukraine as refugees since the war began. Peace would allow these individuals to return home and rebuild their lives.
Economic Recovery and Growth
Ending the war would unleash tremendous economic potential, benefiting not just Ukraine and Russia, but the global economy as a whole.
Rebuilding Ukraine
Peace would enable Ukraine to focus on reconstruction and development. International aid and investment could flow into the country, creating jobs and spurring economic growth. Ukraine's agricultural sector, a major global food supplier, could resume full production, helping to alleviate worldwide food insecurity.
Revitalizing Russia's Economy
For Russia, peace would mean an end to crippling international sanctions. This would allow Russia to reintegrate into the global economy, potentially leading to increased trade, foreign investment, and economic growth. Russian businesses and citizens would benefit from improved economic conditions and stability.
Global Economic Stability
The war's end would likely lead to a decrease in global energy and food prices, easing inflationary pressures worldwide. This would particularly benefit developing countries that have been hit hard by rising costs.
Redirecting Resources to Productive Endeavors
With the conflict resolved, both Ukraine and Russia could redirect their military spending towards more productive sectors such as healthcare, education, and infrastructure. Globally, countries could shift focus from military aid to investments in clean energy, technology, and other areas that drive long-term economic growth and improve quality of life.
Fostering International Cooperation
Ending the war would create opportunities for renewed diplomatic engagement and cooperation. This could lead to progress on other global challenges
The purpose of this post was to see if we can manifest peace

Peace would be welcome. But the cynic in me is puzzled by the timing. Because after destroying the US economy, destroying tens of millions of lives here at home, along with numerous other transgressions, the current administration is looking at a melt down of epic proportions.
And since they are going to steal another election, and it won’t be quite time to send us to the camps, they are going to need some good news, and an economic stimulus plan.
What would be better than a miraculous peace agreement for the good news. And a massive rebuilding plan that will provide hundreds of billions of dollars to US based firms.
My view: they started this war with the full intention of keeping it going until they needed to end it. It is as much about the Ukraine border as Covid was about a lab leak.
I’ll take the peace. The combatants have suffered enough. But they’ve lied about this, just as they’ve lied about everything else. For 200 years. At least.
