We have the first visible proof that Solar Silver Manufacturers are starting to PANIC as they try to get their hands on the LAST REMAINING PHYSICAL SILVER.
PTG Division of SG America just took a delivery of over 5M ounces of physical silver off the COMEX Exchange for use in their new Perovskite solar panels.
These panels have up to 44% efficiency which is double the traditional PERC cells
Perovskite Solar Cell
Perovskite solar cells can be mass-produced using coating and printing technologies and are characterized by their thin film form, lightweight, and flexibility. The ability to install on factory roofs, building walls, and other previously difficult locations has attracted attention.
Silver plays several important roles in perovskite solar cells:
Electrode material: Silver is commonly used as a top electrode in perovskite solar cells due to its high electrical conductivity. It helps efficiently collect and transport electrons generated by the solar cell.
Enhancing efficiency: Researchers have found that incorporating silver nanoparticles into the electron transport layer (ETL) of perovskite solar cells can improve their efficiency. For example, adding silver nanoparticles to a tin oxide (SnO2) ETL increased power conversion efficiency from 13.4% to 14.3%.
Light trapping: Silver nanoparticles can act as "antennas" to trap light near the perovskite layer, enhancing light absorption and electron excitation.
Charge transfer: Silver nanoparticles can enhance charge transfer and extraction from the perovskite layer to the electrode.
Alternative to gold: Silver is often used as a less expensive alternative to gold electrodes in perovskite solar cells. Silver is about 65 times cheaper than gold, making it more economically viable for large-scale production.
Advantages of silver in solar cells:
High electrical conductivity
Excellent reflectivity, enhancing light management
Generally good stability and durability
Lower cost compared to gold
